Description

T-34/76 tank with a stamped turret, made at UZTM in early 1943.
Production of T-34 tanks at the UZTM began in September 1942 and lasted until August 1943. In total during that time the Sverdlovsk tank builders produced 731 T-34 tanks for the Red Army. What's interesting is that when the UZTM foundries could not cope with the ever growing plan for the production of cast T-34 turrets, the plant management decided to design a new pressed turret using an available 10 000 ton press. From October 1942 up to March 1943 UZTM produced 2050 pressed turrets, some fitted to own T-34 tanks and others delivered to Kirov Plant in Chelyabinsk.
