Description
Rudolf Oberlander Double Bass, 1977, Senorahby, Czech RepublicRudolf Oberlander Double Bass dated 1977. Oberlander was a well-regarded Czech builder of fine double basses and cellos until the mid-1980s. After working for the large “Cremona” factory for years, he repaired instruments for the Czech Philarmonic. Oberlander started his own independent shop in the mid-1960s outside of Prague offering a small selection of original instruments.
This stout pattern features a broad upper bout, deep ribs, and a canted flat back. Two-piece back with tight flamed Maple. Note the interesting bridge placement with long hooked C-bouts, ff-holes, and extra-long fingerboard. Well built with careful bracing work inside and unique features throughout.
