Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Double Bass Strings are the most popular multi-use string on the market right now. They’ve set a new standard in the multi-use category and have spurred along many other manufacturers to redevelop their products. They are a great multi-use choice, but as with any hybrid string, there may be other strings that are more suitable for a specific style. For jazz players, I’d recommend light/weich gauge, as they feel more like most manufacturers mediums. The medium here is much more of a heavy string. As far as pizzicato playing goes, the Evah Pirazzis aren’t bright by any means, in fact they are more of a medium to darker sounding string.
