Nice Vintage Well Painted Signed Palekh Russian Footed Lacquer Box Fairy Tale

Description

Offered is an beautiful vintage hand-painted Russian lacquer box. The exquisitely detailed and interesting scene on the lid, against a black background, depicts a man riding a horse and holding a spear in the upper left; a man with a long beard dominates the lower right. I assume this depiction is from a Russian fairy tale.
The box sits on bracket feet and the interior is a cinnabar red. There is Cyrillic writing on the lower left and lower right of the lid (I am unable to read). I estimate this box dates to the 1970's or early 80's.
The dimensions are: 3 7/8" x 3 1/8" x 1 1/4".
The box is in good estate condition and will display nicely. There are no breaks, nicks, or notable scratches on the lacquer surface. The lacquer finish on the lid shows some light age-related wear--scattered small age spots likely from exposure to the environment over time. If you examine photo #5, you can get a sense of this. This wear is hard to discern without close inspection and does not detract from the painted image. However, I did want to point this out.
