Description
Inspired by the twenty-thousand-year-old cave paintings of Lascaux, France and Altamira, Spain, this jar depicts a parade of bison traversing a stormy terrain that reflects their temperament and angry dispositions. The pot is solidly and heavily built to emphasize the nature of the subject matter. This jar is hand built and painted, covered with a clay resist, pulled red-orange hot from coals, thrown glowing into an earth pit and covered with dried leaves and grasses to smother the rich blackness into the clay body that created magnificent fire clouds randomly over the surface. Finally, the hot jar was quenched with water and steam stabilizing the effects of the pit fire. The forces of nature are strongly evident in this jar. It is a wonderfully executed piece of art that was created with the primal elements of earth, fire, water, and air. It is signed by the artist that designed and crafted it.Specifications: 15.50 inches width by 5.25 inches height
