The first generalizing work about the Nganasans (Samoyeds - Tavgians) - a mysterious ethnos that stands alone among the surrounding peoples. These materials are the result of a two-year business trip of the author, sent by the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1930 to the northeast of the Taimyr National District for the ethnographic study of the Dolgans. In carrying out this task, the author had to meet with the more northern neighbors of the Dolgans - the Avam and Vedey Tavgians and collect ethnographic materials about the latter.
